Sometimes only part of a photo is actually needed — a face from a group shot, a product from a cluttered background, or a clean square section for a profile picture. This tool lets you drag a selection box directly over the image to pick exactly the area you want, then downloads just that portion.

How to select the crop area

Click and drag (or on a touchscreen, tap and drag with your finger) directly on the image to draw a rectangle around the part you want to keep. The dashed selection box updates live as you drag, so you can see exactly what will be included before cropping. Once you release, click "Crop & Download" to save just that selected area as a new image.

Where cropping is commonly needed

Trimming a wide landscape photo down to a square for a social media profile picture. Removing distracting background elements from a product photo before listing it for sale online. Extracting just a chart or diagram from a screenshot that also captured surrounding browser or app interface elements. Cutting a single face out of a group photo for an ID badge or contact card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I adjust the selection box after drawing it? Currently each drag creates a fresh selection — if you're not happy with your first attempt, simply click and drag again to redraw it before clicking Crop & Download.

Does cropping reduce image quality? No — the cropped section keeps its original pixel resolution from the source image; only the surrounding areas outside your selection are discarded.

Is my image uploaded to a server for cropping? No — the entire selection and cropping process happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API.
