Favicon Generator

Browser tabs, phone home screens, and bookmark bars each expect a small square icon at a different pixel size — a single uploaded logo rarely fits all of them well without resizing. This tool takes one image and generates the standard favicon sizes websites commonly need, each ready to download individually.

Which size is used where

16x16 and 32x32 are the classic favicon sizes shown in browser tabs and bookmark lists. 48x48 is used by some Windows shortcuts and older browser contexts. 180x180 matches Apple's "apple-touch-icon" size, used when someone adds your site to an iPhone or iPad home screen. Most WordPress themes and site icon uploaders will ask for one of these specific sizes depending on the field.

How to use the generated files

Download each size you need, then in WordPress go to Appearance → Customize → Site Identity and upload the appropriate one as your "Site Icon," or if your theme has separate fields for favicon and Apple touch icon, use the 32x32 (or 48x48) for the favicon field and the 180x180 for the Apple touch icon field.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why isn't there a .ico file option? Modern browsers all accept PNG favicons directly, so a PNG at 32x32 or 16x16 works everywhere a traditional .ico file would — WordPress site icon uploads specifically expect PNG or JPG, not .ico.

My logo has fine detail — will it still look good at 16x16? Very detailed logos often lose legibility at the smallest sizes; for best results, use a simple, bold version of your logo (or just an icon/symbol) as the source image rather than a full logo with small text.

Is my image uploaded anywhere? No — every size is generated locally in your browser using the Canvas API.
